About the Role

In FTI Consulting's Strategic Communications segment, we provide our clients with a comprehensive view of strategic communications that leverages our integrated suite of services, including financial communications, corporate reputation, transaction communications and public affairs in all the major markets around the world.

The Reputation Data Scientist will work to connect together digital, media, audience, primary research and business performance data sets. You will be a critical part of establishing which methodological, statistical and analytical approaches to use across our core problem sets. You will design and deliver end-to-end analytics solutions for our corporate and organizational clients.

What You'll Do

• Extract, clean and process data to establish a data preparation capability focused on business outcomes rather than technical completeness.

• Build complex statistical models and algorithms and use machine learning to solve difficult problems. For example, you will be building optimizers, recommenders, classifiers, and predictive models.

• Develop and implement data products to help clients identify the ideal communications mix strategy based on an ever-changing set of circumstances.

• Identify and evaluate new data sources. We are constantly looking for new data sets to add to our system. You will be critical to figuring out what data sets to add and how to integrate them.

• Integrate primary research. As part of our process we frequently run multi-mode surveys, and you will be expected to analyze the results and integrate these data and findings into our systems.

Basic Qualifications

• Masters in statistics, applied math, physics, computer science, or outstanding work experience

• 7+ years of experience working in data science environments

• Experience working with social media data, earned media data, financial data, survey data

• Expertise in analytical tools such as R/ SAS/Stata

• Experience in scripting languages such as Python/Ruby/PHP etc.

• Experience with business intelligence tools such as Alteryx, KNIME, RapidMiner, Tableau, or Spotfire.

• Experience with survey methodology
