FTI Consulting, Inc.'s Legal Department is seeking an attorney to serve as the Deputy General Counsel, who will report to the General Counsel and support him in managing the global operations of the Legal Department. The Deputy GC will provide legal advice across FTI's global operations, mentor and backstop other attorneys, and lead on special projects as assigned by the General Counsel. The Deputy GC will be responsible for implementing the Legal Department's priorities, including cultivating relationships with key stakeholders, selecting and managing outside counsel, and establishing and enforcing Legal Department policies.
Job Summary: The position's responsibilities include serving, along with the General Counsel, in providing legal advice, counseling, and oversight to all of FTI's global operations.
• Assist the General Counsel in providing comprehensive legal counsel, representation, and oversight on the wide range of legal matters affecting FTI.
• Serve as FTI's lead lawyer on all mergers, acquisitions, and divestiture transactions and all significant commercial transactions, including real estate leasing, intellectual property, and IT transactions.
• Serve as FTI's point of contact for FTI's international lawyers and legal matters outside the United States.
• Manage pre-litigation disputes and outside counsel on litigation matters.
• Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Legal Department, including supervision of staff, resource allocation, career development, budgeting, and management of outside counsel.
• Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
• Must have a JD degree from an accredited law school.
• Must have a minimum of fifteen (15) years of employment experience with a corporate legal department or a nationally recognized law firm.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Able to interact with stakeholders and leaders in a highly matrixed yet collaborative organization
• Committed to being a legal business partner to internal clients
• A member in good standing of a state bar
• Experience in transactional work required, including mergers and acquisitions and complex commercial transactions
• Experience in managing outside counsel
• Professional services industry experience preferred
