About the Opportunity:
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, security, and support of all network components within the FTI Technical Services organization. This role is also responsible for conducting research and evaluation of network technology. The Senior Network Engineer will recommend designs and purchases that will help drive FTI's core business initiatives. Candidates should have extensive experience with network design and implementation including an in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP networking, data communications, and network infrastructure. The Senior Network Engineer is a subject matter expert on network topics and will maintain the FTI hosting networks with an emphasis on uptime, performance, and responsiveness to client requests.
Primary Duties:
- Develop and maintain all network systems across our global datacenters.
- Assist Network Architect with design and implementation of new technologies.
- Document and implement standard operating procedures for network related activities.
- Facilitate enterprise monitoring for network visibility, outage response, and trending.
- Recommend upgrades, applications, and hardware to increase network performance and reliability.
- Work effectively with system administrator/engineers, DBAs, developers, project managers, business representatives, vendors, and analysts to complete tasks in timely manner.
- Provide network resources for team and enterprise wide projects.
- Act as technical resource or lead resource on projects that span multiple teams of engineers.
- Mentoring and /or training of other team members.
- Offer Tier 3 support during network impacting outages, performance issues, and other related troubles
- Work as part of an on-call resource rotation for after-hours support.
- Demonstrate initiative through technical knowledge, interpersonal skills, business knowledge, organizational skills, and professionalism
- 5 years of TCP/IP experience
- 3 years of experience with network protocols, including but not limited to: BGP, OSPF, RADIUS, TACACS, STP, MPLS, etc.
- 3 years of experience with VPN technologies including site-to-site and remote access solutions
- 3 years of experience with Cisco, Juniper or comparable vendor LAN, WAN, and Security architectures
- 3 years of experience with Cisco, Juniper or comparable vendor enterprise firewalls, switches, and routers
- 5+ years of experience installing, configuring, monitoring, maintaining, and supporting production datacenter networks
- Must have a B.S. or a B.A. college degree, technical certifications, or commensurate work experience
- JunOS and PanOS experience highly preferred
- Familiarity with datacenter colocation facilities
- Basic understanding of AWS network topologies and terminology
- Knowledge of network monitoring tools
- Strong documentation skills
- Experience with multi-site routing, peering, and disaster recovery network architectures
- Experience in a 24/7/365, multi-tiered production environment
- Experience with high availability technologies
- Knowledge of enterprise application technologies and architecture
- Ability to take ownership of an issue, problem, or project and see it through to completion
- Ability to design and implement solutions with sensitivity toward project timelines and budgets
- Necessary skills include flexibility, ability to work under tight deadlines, ability to handle multiple tasks through prioritization and time management skills, excellent communication, exceptional collaboration and organizational skills.
- Experience working in structured change management processes for highly available enterprise networks
