Job Description:

InGenesis is currently sourcing a Registered Nurse Manager to work with our client. In this role, you will provide direct supervision of nursing staff and oversee all aspects of the nursing program within the facility. The Nurse Manager is fully oriented and credentialed as a registered nurse and provides care to patients as needed to meet mission requirements.

Job Duties:
  • Supervise patient care provided by nursing staff, including assistants and technicians.
  • Plan, schedule, assign, and direct nursing care independently.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals on patient care interventions.
  • Evaluate and revise patient treatment plans with the healthcare team.
  • Review patient records to assess treatment progress and record-keeping.
  • Report major changes in patient status to appropriate providers promptly.
  • Meet regularly with the multidisciplinary treatment team to discuss medical treatment revisions.
  • Serve as a liaison with other healthcare disciplines.
  • Conduct staff in-services to improve nursing and medical care.
  • Coordinate nursing care with onsite staff.
  • Coordinate treatment and transport of acutely ill or injured patients.
  • Lead orientation and training of new nursing personnel.
  • Provide health teaching and counseling to minimize protocol deviations.
  • Analyze protocol practices and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop recommendations for improved patient care efficiency.
  • Assist with program/project design, strategy development, problem resolution, and implementation.
  • Perform duties as a Registered Nurse when required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program (associate's, baccalaureate, or graduate) for Registered Nurses in a State, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory.
    • Accreditation by ACEN or CCNE.
    • Foreign graduates must have a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (graduate degree in nursing or related field preferred).
  • Minimum six years of professional nursing experience.
  • Minimum three years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in a detention/correctional healthcare setting preferred.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the state of the duty station or a compact state.
  • Report any changes to the license immediately.
  • Maintains BLS for Healthcare Providers® certification through the American Heart Association®.
  • Preferred certifications:
    • Certified Correctional Health Professional
    • Certified Correctional Health Professional - Registered Nurse
    • Certified Corrections Nurse
    • Certified Correctional Nurse/Manager

Physical Demands
  • The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, walking or jogging unaided over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy patients or equipment.
  • The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as agility and dexterity, visual, and hearing capabilities.
  • Must be able to respond to any medical emergency in the facility, via foot, within four minutes and perform CPR/emergency care standing or kneeling.
  • Must have the ability to assist sick, injured, or aging detainees or staff exiting the building during an emergency.
