InGenesis is currently seeking an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician to work with our client in San Antonio, TX. In this challenging role, you will accurately and efficiently receive and review prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals, prepare replenishment orders, receiving incoming stock, check for discrepancies, and rotate controlled and noncontrolled medication stock and supplies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience: Shall have a minimum of one (1) year of experience within the last five (5) years providing serves as an inpatient pharmacy technician.
- Education: Shall be a graduate from a formal pharmacy technician program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) or a formal pharmacy technical program (i.e., technical, hospital, or retail-based program) or a formal medical services training program of the United States Military.
- Certification: Must be certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (Except). It is a condition of this contract that all required certifications in this PWS remain current during the life of the contract. Certifications required under these qualifications are the responsibility of the Contractor and shall be maintained at no cost to the Government.
- CPR/BLS: Shall have and maintain a current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA).
JOB DUTIES
- Shall receive and review prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals, to include controlled drugs, on the pharmacy formulary.
- Shall assess patient's response prescription or non-prescription drugs according to established agreements and MTF protocols.
- Shall coordinate with the prescriber of pharmaceuticals to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions as needed.
- Prepare replenishment orders, receive incoming stock, check for discrepancies, and rotate controlled and noncontrolled medication stock and supplies.
- Coordinate stock level changes as determined by increases or decreases in demand and seasonal requirements.
- Shall enter medication orders into an electronic healthcare system and review orders to identify allergies, interactions with other substances, and duplicate orders.
- Shall perform standard assays on finished products, verify ingredients, verify proper labeling, and ensure a pharmaceutically elegant product is dispensed to each patient.
- Shall operate, maintain, and assist other staff members on common and specialized instruments, to include pharmacy PYXIS machines, point of use medication cabinets, and other equipment.
- Shall prepare the full range of sterile products and perform pharmaceutical calculations for a variety of preparations.
- Shall ensure strict adherence to sterile procedures and the correct operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Shall receive, review, prepare, and fill physician orders for intravenous (I.V) solutions.
- Complete parenteral and inpatient unit does orders, prescriptions, and bulk drug orders.
- Shall call attention to short expiration dates and an unusual appearance of products and items.
- Maintain security and limited access of all pharmaceuticals.
- Shall perform generalized maintenance on equipment as needed during the preparation of sterile products to ensure sterility of all finished IV products.
- Shall perform all inpatient functions with minimal supervision by a registered pharmacist.
- Shall assess metabolic needs and order therapeutic enteral or parenteral nutrition products.
- Shall research and prepare a master formula for extemporaneous compounding of topical creams, ointments, lotions, oral solutions and suspensions, and other bulk compounding procedures.
- Shall compound medications and assist newly assigned personnel in proper compounding processes.
- Shall perform all formula functions independently and the master formula shall be verified by a registered pharmacist.
- Shall participate in collection and review of quality assurance data.
- Shall review stock levels to ensure appropriate number of pharmaceuticals are present.
- Shall assist with the order and evaluation of laboratory tests necessary to evaluate drug therapy effects and outcomes, as well as receive and process orders for controlled substances.
- Shall monitor and manage pharmacotherapy practices requiring periodic adjustment due to specific or changing pharmacokinetic characteristics.
