JOB OVERVIEW

Prometric seeks a System Engineer to join its technology operations team in White Marsh, MD. In this role, you will work with a team to engineer and implement platform solutions for Prometric's global network of Testing Centers. You will have the opportunity to work with a broad range of technologies in our hybrid platforms used to deliver over 25 million exam hours at our testing locations in more than 180 countries worldwide.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a System Engineer, you will be responsible for engineering, integrating, and supporting new technologies in Prometric's Test Center network. You will create solutions for technical issues escalated by frontline support teams and automate repetitive processes. You will evaluate and create solutions for introducing new technologies to improve Prometric's services.

  • Evaluate and integrate new workstations and server hardware for the network.

  • Evaluate and integrate new software or Operating Systems for the network.
  • Create and support automation solutions for large-scale rollouts to reduce the timescales and improve the quality of deployments.
  • Work with Product Owners/Developers to assist in architecting solutions.

  • Communicate issues, solutions, and their business impact across the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

  • Technical bachelor's degree
  • Equivalent industry certifications and experience

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum three years' experience in the Information Systems field.

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop and server OS:

  • Active Directory Services (AD)
  • Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
  • Dynamic Naming Service (DNS)
  • File and Storage Services

  • Group Policy Management (GPO)
  • Hyper-V
  • Message Queuing (MSMQ)
  • Microsoft Deployment Technology (MDT)
  • Print and Document Services

  • User Profiles
  • Web Server (IIS)
  • Windows Server Update Services

  • Working knowledge of:

  • Azure Active Directory

  • Azure Infrastructure
  • Database systems (Microsoft SQL)
  • Local networking and VPNs
  • Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
  • Physical hardware: desktops, printers, servers, switches, routers, and peripherals

  • OSI Model
  • Reading and writing PowerShell or similar scripting language

  • Work with Product Owners/Developers to assist in architecting solutions.
  • Develop Strong working relationship with Product Teams/Developers

  • Communication with other teams on a routine basis and help push IT initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Agile project management environment

SKILLS

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a high aptitude for complex systems.

  • Ability to work to tight schedules and deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.

  • Experience in data communications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Positions in this classification include bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and climbing to perform work. Employeesmust be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds and heavier weights with the proper equipment.
