Job Background:
The Systems Engineering Department (AIR-4.1) requires systems specialty engineering and technical efforts to be performed in the following specialty engineering functional areas: Air/Ship Integration, Systems Safety, Mass Properties, Survivability, Manufacturing & Quality, Air Platform Stores Integration, Metrology and Systems Security Engineering. These efforts are focused across a broad business base comprised of Integrated Program Teams (IPT's), Externally Directed Teams (EDT's) and Enterprise Teams (ET's), which support all Naval Air Programs.
The mission of AIR-4.1 is to apply systems engineering knowledge and skills to provide support to Program Executive Offices (PEOs) and Program Manager, Air (PMAs) by providing assessments of Aircraft, Weapon and Integrated Systems' technical performance, mission suitability and associated acquisition risks throughout the full acquisition process and life cycle of a program.
Essential Job Functions of this Position:
- Applies engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan and design, develop, implement, test or evaluate military weapons systems.
- Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals and other technical documentation.
- Applies systems engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, configuration management, quality assurance testing, or acquisition and resource management.
- Analyzes, designs, develops, implements, tests, or evaluates software, components, or systems related to engineering or functional requirements of military weapons systems, associated support systems.
- Performs tasks with little or no guidance.
- Has demonstrated knowledge in area of System Safety engineering expertise, software engineering a plus.
Qualifications - Education and Relevant Years of Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related scientific discipline is required; Master's degree from an accredited institution in desired. Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of recent and relevant experience in an engineering field are require. Ideally, three (3) years of experience should be related to naval systems.
An active Secret security clearance is required.
