About The Role
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment at Spellman's headquarters in Hauppauge and production facility in Valhalla, New York. You will also perform building repairs and improvements, including light carpentry, basic plumbing and minor electrical work. You should have a strong understanding of basic mechanics, including pumps, motors, conveyors, etc.
What You Will Do
- Track and perform preventive maintenance on equipment
- Complete and close work orders in a timely fashion
- Perform maintenance and basic repairs (painting, Floor cleaning, buffing and polishing)
- Able to communicate clearly with all levels of staff and management
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Ensure adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations
- Work on 120V-208V repair/replacement (outlets, switches, plugs, light bulbs, etc)
- Assist office reorganization through furniture and equipment. Movement and assembly of furniture, equipment, materials, boxes, etc
- Basic plumbing repairs (unclogging toilets/sinks, etc)
- Assist with carpentry work
- Compacting cardboard
- Furniture/rack/cart assemble assembly
- Painting
- Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
- Conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment.
- Ensure grounds are kept clean and free of trash/debris
What You Need
- Trade school degree in an electrical or mechanical discipline is preferred
- At least 1 year of relevant prior experience
- Valid New York State driver's license, clear of convictions to operate company vehicles
- Experience with OSHA compliance in a manufacturing environment is required
- A self-starter with the ability to work on several projects simultaneously under the direction of Lead Mechanic
- Basic knowledge/understanding of electrical, plumbing and carpentry
- Strong organizational and follow up skills
- Strong time management skills
- Manual dexterity and ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches etc.
- Experience operating a forklift. Certification is preferred

This position requires on-site presence at Spellman High Voltage headquarters in Hauppauge, NY and periodic travel to the Valhalla, NY facility.
