PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Contracts and Acquisitions (C&A) provides all purchasing, property accountability, subcontracting, receiving, warehousing, distribution, and transportation services for the Frederick National Laboratory (FNL).

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Physical and administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing and
    distributing of materials, parts, supplies and equipment
  • Preparing and keeping accurate records of goods shipped, e.g. manifests, bills of lading, filing, data entry
  • Verifying incoming and outgoing shipments are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against documents, bill of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts or other records
  • Ensure that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the FNLCR
  • Conducting routine preventative maintenance inspection of vehicle if applicable
  • Proficient in processing and posting Return of Goods in Costpoint
  • Ability initiate, process and email Special Material handling Forms to End-user and all other persons who need to be notified of equipment arrival
  • Fill critical shortages and support every aspect of the Receiving Warehouse duties to include: training, support to staff in Supervisor's absence when Team Lead is not available
  • Working knowledge pertaining to closing purchase orders and backing out purchase orders for buyers to adjust pricing or make other adjustments as needed and then re-receive the purchase order once the buyer has completed the changes
  • Verifies materials received by visual inspection of material and comparison against packing slips and purchase order requests
  • Verifies items to be shipped against requestors shipping documentation and ensures that shipments are properly packaged and identified with required shipping documentation
  • Determines and reports discrepancies/damaged material to vendor, end-user and/or purchasing agent/buyer
  • Arranges for pick-up and credit/replacement of defective, incorrect or damaged material
  • Routes/Stages processed deliveries for various locations throughout the NCI at Frederick complex, including various off-site facilities
  • Prepares and keeps accurate records for all goods received, distributed and shipped
  • Arranges, stores and conducts inventory of bulk or large equipment orders in short term storage in warehouses
  • Ensures items are properly placed in staging area for delivery to the requestors including 'temperature sensitive' and bulk materials
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by a responsible authority

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
  • Possession of high school diploma or equivalent
  • In addition to educational requirements, a minimum of two (2) years of related warehouse experience
  • Ability to routinely lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Work involves walking, standing, kneeling, bending and stooping, potential exposure to particulates, compressed gases, confined spaces, noisy environment, refrigerated/frozen spaces, and being around moving objects and/or vehicles
  • Must be qualified to operate Material Handling Equipment (forklift, hand and/or power trucks)
  • Must become educated in and maintain certification for Hazardous Materials in Transportation (General Awareness training)
  • Ability to maintain accurate files, logs, and records
  • Good verbal, telephone, and customer relations skills
  • Basic computer skills to include data entry
  • Must have and maintain a valid State Driver's License with no more than 3 points as determined by the appropriate State Motor Vehicle Administration point system for offenses
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

JOB HAZARDS
  • This position may require continuous or intermittent exposure to and exertion in environmental conditions such as working outdoors, temperature extremes, humidity extremes. etc. as part of the job
  • This position is subject to working in or have the potential to exposure to high noise levels for extended periods of time requiring medical clearance
