Senior Consultant, Strategic Communications - Financial Services, Public Affairs

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are currently looking for a Senior Consultant to join our Public Affairs Financial Services team in our Washington D.C. office. The Senior Consultant will primarily support team members in the execution of consulting programs and, by doing so, will learn the necessary subjects and processes to service and advise clients. The individual will conduct research for ongoing consulting projects and will work with account teams to execute projects and meet client goals and objectives. A Senior Consultant must keep up-to-date on key issues and current events for their clients, as well as generally in the relevant industries.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

The Senior Consultant will assist the Financial Services Sector on all client-related activities with a specific focus on crypto, insurance, fintech, and banking. This role will develop in-depth knowledge of clients' objectives and challenges in order to assist them through current situations and prepare them for future issues. Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:
  • Serve as one of the day-to-day client contacts on select accounts; manage the overall quality of work on multiple accounts by demonstrating professional and team leadership
  • Play a role in the research, planning and development of comprehensive communication programs
  • Manage client expectations and participate in preparing new business presentations
  • Write and edit a variety of materials (e.g., memos, press releases, presentations, emails, media pitches, and web content)
  • Address client issues thoughtfully and effectively
  • Assist in successfully growing existing accounts

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Client Delivery
  • Manage communication strategies and execute a variety of tactics at the same time
  • Support multiple client teams to deliver high-quality work focused on client needs
  • Create client-ready deliverables in a timely and efficient manner
  • Provide strong project management
  • Identify resource needs and work with managers to assign individual responsibilities
  • Support billing procedures to ensure timely and accurate delivery of client invoices

Business Development
  • Maintain solid relationships with clients
  • Work with managers to help clients assess their program needs
  • Actively participate in the generation of Strategic Communications new business proposals and presentations

Practice Leadership
  • Consistently seek ways to improve client service
  • Support the development, production and marketing of thought leadership surrounding emerging trends and issues
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity and asks the necessary questions to manage firm and client data responsibly
  • Understand FTI's values, Code of Ethics and the Strategic Communications Rules of Practice and demonstrate a strong commitment to applying these concepts in daily interactions with colleagues and clients. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Must have a solid grasp of public relations, including traditional media relations experience, as well as digital and social media program management experience
  • Must possess superior research, writing and editing skills.
  • Demonstrated development of a professional network and experience with media contacts, database tools and pitching media to secure client coverage is required
  • Experience with popular blogging tools, publishing software and other social media platforms (i.e., Twitter) required
  • Strong time and priority management skills and an ability to effectively juggle multiple client projects
  • Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, deadline-oriented dynamic environment with regular change
  • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Understanding of Associated Press Style Guidelines
  • Travel required to clients and to FTI office(s)
  • COVID Vaccine required*

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2+ years of communications agency and/or state/federal government experience, including strong internships
  • Proven project management skills and the ability to proactively support/counsel key client relationship
  • Interest in public policy and power sector issues
