Job Description
The mission of the Business Intelligence (BI) developer is to create and manage BI and analytics solutions to unlock the power of our data and expose it to business decision makers. In this role, you should be analytical, an excellent communicator, demonstrate business acumen and be a dynamic problem solver.
- Analyze, design, modify and configure Data Modelling BI and Data Warehousing solutions in support of business objectives. Delivery of operational reporting projects end-to-end in line with business needs
- Write SQL Server queries and stored procedures to populate reporting datasets and conduct analyses
- Translate business needs to technical specifications
- Perform technical troubleshooting, code debugging, and problem solving for custom built data warehousing solutions.
- Design, build and deploy BI solutions
- Maintain and support data analytics platform
- Collaborate with teams to integrate data/systems
- Develop and update technical documentation
- Provide progress reports on, and otherwise ensure transparency around, the delivery of BI projects
Qualifications
- BSc/BA in Computer Science or relevant field
- 2+ years of proven experience as a BI Developer in a similar role
- Experience with SQL including joins, inserts, updates, deletes, conditional logic, subqueries, temp tables, and data transformation functions
- Familiarity with BI technologies (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Oracle BI) and experience with Dundas BI an advantage
- Experience with other data products and scripting (PowerApps, SSAS, SSIS, Polybase, Hadoop and Python) a plus
- Background in principles of database/data warehouse design
- In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework
- Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative
- Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
- Ability to "get things done" working alone or as part of a team as needed
- Excellent communication skills and then ability to understand what customers need, not necessarily what they say they need
- Team player that can adapt in a fast pace and changing environment
- Experience or knowledge of market research industry an advantage
