Practical Exams to be Administered - The examiners must be able to examine candidates for the exams below:
  • NIC Barber Styling Practical Exam
  • NIC Cosmetology Practical Exam
  • NIC Esthetics Practical Exam
  • NIC Instructor Practical Exam
  • NIC Nail Technology Practical Exam
  • NIC Natural Hair Styling Practical Exam

Positions are part-time.

The exams will typically be administered on Mondays (with the exception of state holidays).

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Youmust be able to work both independently and as part of a team and be able to communicate clearly via phone and email. The successful applicant must be highly motivated, reliable, and easily shift focus. Previous experience in a customer service position is preferred.

Exam Coordinator responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Review the NIC Examination Administration Manual to ensure compliance with all NIC requirements and have available at the test site for reference.
  • Review and adhere to the NIC Test Administration Manual
  • Review Candidate Information Bulletins (CIBs) Make sure that you are familiar with the examination process, follow all instructions and procedures, and understand the NIC Critical Standards that support the task lines.
  • Administer the practical exams using the Prometric PADs rating system in addition to the NIC Critical Standards.
  • Receive from the corporate office the signature roster, instructor assignments, ADA letters (if applicable), candidate schedule, and Examiner Schedule prior to the day of testing.
  • Prepare the tablets with the candidate's name and information from the signature roster.
  • Prepare all test supplies and confirm that an adequate amount of supplies are available for each exam room.
  • Purchase and submit receipts for reimbursement of needed supplies or send an e-mail to the Administrative Coordinator with a list of needed supplies to be ordered and delivered.
  • Confirm testing rooms are set up according to the setup diagram if applicable. This applies to exams administered in hotels or schools.
  • Check all testing rooms for adequate lighting and to ensure that heating or cooling systems are working
  • Confirm testing supplies are in all testing rooms utilizing the supply checklist.
  • Confirm clocks are displaying the correct time and all timers are functioning properly.
  • Meet with all Examiners to review the Examiner Schedule and answer any questions 45 minutes prior to the first exam session of the day
  • Monitor new Examiners when they are observing the exams, shadowing the exams and when they are grading small boards.
  • Give guidance and instructions to all Examiners and Proctors as needed during all examinations.
  • Begin registering candidates 30 minutes prior to the scheduled exam time.
  • Contact the corporate office for guidance on any unusual situation that occurs during registration or during the examinations. Calls must be made in a secure area away from the testing candidates to ensure confidentiality.
  • Ensure Critical Standards and all secure documents are securely locked up when not in use for examinations. During examinations they must never be left unattended.
  • Confirm that Examiners have completed an Incident Report for any candidate that received a significant number of NOs in any section of the examination.
  • Inventory all Critical Standards and secure documents after each test session to verify that all are secured and accounted for.
  • Review incident reports for completeness and to ensure that the needed candidate information has been provided on the report.

Required Experience:
  • High School Diploma required, college experience a plus
  • One to two years customer service related experience required
