The Marketing, Corporate Communications & Investor Relations team has an exciting opportunity to create and execute against strategies for the organization to drive revenue, relationships and reputation. The ideal candidate is goal-oriented, with an ability to drive change and influence outcomes across the organization. Candidate must possess executive-level written and communication abilities, strong analytical thinking, and project management skills, as well as the propensity to develop strategic initiatives with clear actions and outcomes and fully deliver on those outcomes. This individual should also be skilled at building inclusive teams and be committed to mentoring the firm's next generation of marketing leaders.

What You'll Do

As the Director of Marketing Operations & Business Development, you will lead essential marketing, business development and operations strategies and initiatives. In this role, you will serve as a key leader in helping FTI Consulting create programs that seek to proactively foster revenue growth through various strategic business development initiatives, oversee the core operations activities driven by the corporate marketing team, as well as further build a strong and distinctive brand platform, while advancing the firm's reputation and visibility both internally and externally. This role reports to the Head of Marketing, Corporate Communications & Investor Relations. As such, key activities include:
  • Leading the optimization of the Company's overall internal core marketing processes to identify strategies and implement actions that enhance production efficiency and tie metrics to actions including technology ownership, communications, and data governance.
  • Collaborating with segment and regional marketing teams on multi-faceted workstreams, including:
    • Working the marketing and communications leadership to develop strategic initiatives and processes for business development efforts across a variety of marketing activities (events, thought leadership, etc.), as well as establish and track metrics to track ROI on these efforts.
    • Driving proactive business development processes across functional areas and delivering actionable approaches to increase revenues, take market share, attract leading clients and professionals, and enhance the firm's brand.
    • Facilitating collaboration on cross-regional and cross-segment marketing and sales activities, including sharing best practices and resources.
    • Executing campaigns and expanding measurement methodology to conduct deep campaign analysis and reporting across all channels, including defining reporting guidelines, standards and KPIs to measure campaign success; delivering integrated reporting across multiple channels and outlining strategies for follow on engagement and other digital initiatives.
    • Developing and producing pitch books, presentations, responses to Requests for Information ("RFI") and Requests for Proposals ("RFP"), and ensuring the post-pitch follow up process is completed.
  • Coordinating with the Managing Director of Business Development and the broader Business Development teams within the firm's segments and regions to generate new business through relationship development, marketplace distinction and client communications, while ensuring commercial objectives are defined, actionable and measurable.
  • Coordinating with the Managing Director of Client Relationship Management ("CRM") and the Digital Marketing team to develop, advance and refine CRM data governance, integration, and reporting.
  • Collaborating with marketing and business development colleagues across the business to identify, share and implement best-practices around BD initiatives.
  • Manage the following business-development processes, in collaboration with the Managing Director, Business Development: research /competitive intelligence; pitch/RFP prep; event prep; establish and implement closed-loop BD processes for each necessary function; establish and track BD metrics; and key accounts.
  • Managing client contact lists across business segments and regions, including the integration of contact information across multiple platforms, e.g., corporate website, CRM, Eloqua.
  • Assisting in planning and executing business development aspects of client-facing events, industry conferences, charitable sponsorships, speaking engagements, client entertainment and other event activities.
  • Managing an assigned budget while making recommendations to best optimize marketing spend to accomplish overall goals.
  • Identifying opportunities to scale efficiencies and new ways of working across multiple practices and regions.
  • Navigating complex problems and stakeholders, evaluating and prioritizing needs and creating actionable recommendations.
  • Committing to promoting and driving diversity, inclusion and belonging across the Marketing, Communications & Investor Relations function and firm more broadly.
  • Upholding the firm's Code of Ethics and Business Conduct.

Basic Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree, MBA preferred.
  • 8+ years of related marketing, operations and project management experience within professional services or related industry.
  • Successful track record of working with senior leadership and management to drive transformation.
  • Travel required to FTI office(s).

Skills & Competencies
  • Ability to interact, communicate, collaborate and build relationships with a wide variety of individuals across a global network, including effectively managing in a matrixed organization.
  • Decisiveness and excellent use of independent judgment, as well as the ability to continuously prioritize among multiple obligations and/or deliverables.
  • Deep digital analytics skills and a passion for uncovering key insights from client engagement, and experience translating those insights into clear, actionable reports for revenue generating professionals.
  • Passion for data and focus on business KPIs, in order to effectively prioritize marketing initiatives based on potential business impact. Ability to identify, focus on and draw insights from the metrics that matter.
  • Experience creating and executing on proactive business development strategies.
  • Experience with CRM/email marketing and email marketing software. Ideally proficient in Salesforce and marketing software such as Eloqua, Pardot or a similar enterprise marketing platform.
  • Experience using CRM platforms to drive and inform business development strategies.
  • Executes with a sense of urgency and high degree of efficiency.
  • Ability to improve and evolve ways of working when necessary and encourage and empower the team to think outside the box.
  • Drive and take ownership for developing connections (both internally and externally) that will help deliver what is best for the firm's stakeholders and add value to the firm.
  • Ability to navigate complex situations while applying firm policies and procedures to enable compliance across the organization.
  • Experience leading and coaching teams to support professional development and delivery of quality work outcomes.
  • Identify and sponsor appropriate assignments and experiences to help junior team members realize their potential and support their long-term career aspirations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong communication skills, including listening, verbal and written are required.
  • Exceptional project management ability, analytical thinking and attention to detail are required.
