As a Hospice Nurse at Saint Luke's Hospice House, you will provide end of life care and symptoms management to patients straight from the ICU outside their home. Many of these patients require aggressive symptom management and may be on drips, LVADs, ventilator/bipap, or have trachs. You will provide patient education to patients and patients' loved ones, provide medication administration. You will work with a multidisciplinary team in the care management plan and use a team approach to provide exceptional patient care.

Since 1975, Saint Luke's Hospice-one of the region's first hospice programs-has provided compassionate, comforting care to area patients and their families in their homes and nursing facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Provides direct nursing care to patients with terminal illness.
- Management and coordination of care to include both the patient and family.
- Completes initial assessment of physical, emotional, and spiritual status.
- Aggressive pain and symptom management, including frequent medication administration and adjustments. Management of IV infusions and titration of drips.
- Provides education and support related to end of life and imminent death.
- Open, sensitive, and non-judgmental presence accepting of different beliefs, cultures, and values.
- Uses electronic documentation to describe symptoms, interventions, physical assessment, education and support provided
To be successful in this position, you will need to possess strong assessment skills, communication and organization skills. Must be passionate for providing the best patient care experience. We are seeking nurses who have strong time management skills and are able to prioritize tasks. This position works on a PRN basis and may include day, evening/night or weekend shifts.
Saint Luke's Hospice House is a freestanding facility that offershospice carefor patients who may require more symptom management than can be provided at home or may prefer to spend their final days in another safe, loving location.
BLS, KC Food Handler Card within 60 days, and Missouri and Kansas RN license is required.
