Duties and responsibilities:
  • Integrate Preventive Quality into the New Product Introduction Process leveraging tools such as APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) across Topcon Positioning Systems, subsidiaries, and suppliers.
  • Deploy and improve tools and processes across all functions focused on improving new product launch quality, reliability and functional safety.
  • Integrate Quality, Reliability, Compliance, and Beta testing requirements into the PLC (Product Life Cycle) process.
  • Responsible for leading safety related activities on safety critical systems and ensures products, processes and products are ISO 13849, 25119, and 26262 compliant.
  • Work with Topcon teams to ensure the functional safety process is executed and documented. Specific work products include the Safety Plan, Preliminary Hazard Analysis, Safety Requirements, and Safety Analysis including FMEDA and FTA, and Safety Verification and Validation activities.
  • Perform safety management activities according to relevant standards during all project phases (concept, product development, production) including preliminary hazard analysis, DFMEA, FMEDA, qualitative and quantitative fault tree analysis.
  • Develop safety architectures and safety plans to ensure compliance with the functional safety Standards/Cascade safety requirements to the systems, subsystems, and component levels in product portfolio. Specify detailed safety requirements, including diagnostic and software requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, development teams and customers on Functional Safety.
  • Conduct reviews and audits with product teams to ensure functional safety standards are being met throughout product development cycles.
  • Act as main customer contact related to safety topics to optimize the cooperation and expertise regarding OEM processes and strategies.


Qualifications:
  • BSEE, MSEE preferred.
  • At least 3 years of practical business experience in any application of Functional Safety
  • Experience with Automotive/Machinery Product Development Life Cycle (Systems, Software, HW)
  • Knowledge of Requirements Management tools
  • Functional Safety certification required
  • Knowledge of the Products Development Life Cycle with respect to Systems, Electrical or Software Development.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with Functional Safety standards (ISO 13849, 25119, 26262)
  • Familiarity with Microprocessor/DSP based hardware designs, and Software Architecture.
  • Good technical leadership, planning and organization /control skills.
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to plan and deliver effective training.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team orientated environment.
  • Self-motivated / self-starter with the ability to find creative solutions.
  • English fluently spoken and written
