About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our EMEA Finance team for a Senior Management Accountant. Working in a department of approximately 50 supporting the EMEA region of FTI Consulting the role reports into the EMEA Corporate Financial Controller. The person will be responsible for internal US GAAP reporting to a US listed parent and external statutory GAAP reporting across multiple EMEA countries, plus associated compliance and balance sheet reconciliations.

What You'll Do

The person will be responsible for key elements of the EMEA financial statements covering payroll reporting, intercompany loan accounting, bank reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and VAT reporting. A key element of the role is timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations under a SOX environment. Additionally, there is extensive work in statutory audits across the EMEA region (UK GAAP, IFRS, multiple local GAAPs), where the person will be responsible for the management of the audit process of a legal entity, or entities, to a point of approval by the EMEA Financial Controller.

Monthly Accounting Close
  • Prepare and post journal entries including payroll reports from external payroll agencies, prepaid expenses, expense accruals
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to lease capitalisation in line with relevant accounting standards.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and post general ledger adjustments
  • Post quarterly tax journals and coordinate with EMEA tax team.
  • Manage intercompany loan schedules and record monthly interest accruals.
  • Perform inter-company reconciliations for multiple EMEA entities.
  • Preparation of general ledger account reconciliations in line with SOX, including monthly submission into the FTI Blackline environment.
  • Assist with the review and approval of journals prepared by accountants in the corporate accounting team.
  • Assist EMEA Finance team in the enhancement of month-end processes including month-end accounting and ensuring compliance with US GAAP.
  • Strict adherence with the SOX compliance process (handle SOX queries, SOX self-assessment)
Statutory Audit Process
  • Assist with preparation and finalisation of annual statutory accounts for multiple EMEA entities.
  • Direct liaison with external auditors and management of the audit deliverables.
  • Direct liaison with internal audit team for US GAAP testing and group audit elements.
Other Compliance
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, annual VAT returns and EC Sales for multiple EMEA entities coordinating with outsourced accountants/tax advisors.
  • Coordinate with outsourced accountants/tax advisors to deliver other local compliance elements.
  • Other duties and ad hoc support as directed by the EMEA Financial Controller

Qualifications & Skills

Essential:

  • Due to Covid restrictions we are seeking a self-starter with an ability to work remotely, and freely, interacting with colleagues through various online mediums (Teams, email)
  • Qualified accountant with 3+ years PQE (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Experience of performing month end close process either within industry or from an audit/review perspective
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, UK GAAP or other European GAAP, and Sarbanes Oxley environments
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve reconciliation issues
  • Ability to prioritise and work to tight month-end deadlines
  • A team player and proactively offering support to colleagues in managing workload
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables and formulas
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly professional person who demonstrates pride in their work
  • Committed and tolerance to irregular hours due to reporting deadlines
Desired:

  • Professional services experience
  • Preparation of UK GAAP (FRS 102) statutory accounts and associated disclosures
  • Hands on knowledge of Caseware for UK GAAP financial statements
  • Working knowledge of VAT and the associated reporting elements (VAT output, VAT input, VAT liability)
  • Background of working in a matrix organisation and dealing with European subsidiaries
